This year’s LSA Expo was a record-breaking event on many fronts.

A CubCrafter Carbon Cub SS on floats prepares to takeoff after spending the day at the Expo’s first-ever Splash In at Lake Jackson seaplane base. Just prior the show, the company announced it’s scheduled to deliver its 200th airplane in February.

This 2000 RANS S-7 on floats was featured at Saturday’s AvBid Aircraft Auction. The winner of the Best Fabric Work at Oshkosh in 2002, the airplane has only 780 hours total time. Other items included a Garmin AERA GPS 796 Americas XM (donated by Garmin). The winning bidder: John “Lites” Leenhouts, president of Sun ‘n Fun. Kitfox’s John McBean (center) kept busy showing the company’s two S7 Super Sports on exhibit. And he told me he was looking forward to flying the S-7 (pictured) to the Bahamas for a well-deserved weeklong break.
