Have you ever wanted to design an aircraft that actually made it onto the display floor? Pipistrel is giving aviation enthusiasts just that chance with its contest for the livery design of the first Panthera.

The company is calling for exterior designs of its new fuel-efficient four-seater, and plans to award the selected winner with 1,000 Euros along with a signature on the finished aircraft, which will be displayed at major airshows and media events around the world in the coming year. All design entries must be realizable using computer-cut self-adhesive foils and cannot contain dark colors on upper surfaces exposed to the sun, among other requirements.

Interested applicants should act soon, as contest entries must be submitted to contest@pipistrel.si by Jan. 10. For complete design guidelines and high-resolution templates of the aircraft, click here.

Powered by a Lycoming IO-390 engine, the Panthera will boast ambitious projected performance, including a cruising speed of 200 knots, a fuel consumption of 10 gallons per hour and a range of more than 1,000 nm. Inside the cockpit, the aircraft will be equipped with Garmin’s new GTN 750 touchscreen navigator as well as a Garmin G500 PFD/MFD.

Slated to follow the original Panthera model is the Panthera Hybrid, with a target range of 660 nm, and the Panthera Electro, with a target range of 215 nm.
