Two Navy pilots were pulled from San Diego Bay after they ejected from their E/A-18 Growler before it crashed into the water Wednesday morning.
The incident, which occurred west of Naval Air Station North Island in California, occurred around 10:30 a.m. PST, according to a report by San Diego ABC affiliate KGTV.
Both pilots safely ejected and were quickly picked up by a fishing boat, the U.S. Coast Guard said.
It marks at least the second such incident in about a year. In January 2024, a U.S. Navy MH-60R Seahawk anti-submarine helicopter assigned to Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron (HSM) 41, a unit that trains MH-60R pilots at Naval Air Station North Island crashed into the bay during a training mission.
This is a developing story.
